With many banks and building societies choosing to leave the high street, Saffron Building Society in the heart of Halstead are delighted to be celebrating 30 years since their doors first opened to the public in 1990.
Offering mortgages, savings, investment, and insurance, Saffron are at the very heart of the Halstead community. During what have been unprecedented times for the community, the dedicated branch team have remained open during the lockdown and beyond to ensure its members always had access to their money with a friendly welcome.
Colin Field, CEO of Saffron Building Society comments: “We are delighted to celebrate 30 years in Halstead. Saffron is a people business and our branches are as important to us now as they were in 1990. Although we have advanced technologically with our website and savings app, our branches are an integral part of our business. People thrive on human contact, so we plan to invest in our branches - as well as our technology - in the future and we are delighted to invite members into branches, albeit with some safety measure in place for the short term. We would like to thank the people of Halstead for their continued support.”
The Saffron team were not able to have the usual festivities at the branch for birthday celebrations. So, the team got creative and organised a virtual “Guess the number of sweets in the jar” competition which was shared online and positioned in branch. The competition got over 70 entries impressively and was great engagement whilst we spend more time at home.
